Thanks for the guest post by Jonathan Curtis

Since recently moving to Kentucky, one afternoon my husband and I decided to take a short hike to a waterfall in the Daniel Boone National Forest. We packed a few drinks, told the dog we’d be back in a few hours, set the ADT home security and headed out the door. We parked the car and started up the path to the park area. Once we got there we saw the signs that guided us up the mountain to where the waterfall was. The signs indicated it was a five mile hike to reach our destination. I was a bit worried I’d not make it but my husband had faith in me so, off we went.

The hike was absolutely beautiful as we went farther and farther into the woods. There were signs warning us of possible bears. That unnerved me and I was ready to turn around, but again, my husband calmed me down and told me we’d be fine so I continued. There were a few spots that we had to climb over downed trees and one spot that I had to slide down a muddy slope but we made it. The hike was definitely worth it when we saw the magnificent waterfall. It was gorgeous. We sat and enjoyed the view for almost an hour. It was so relaxing. It was only then as we packed up to leave that I realized that my hike was only half way over. I still had the five mile hike back to the car so up the muddy slope we climbed and back over the downed trees to finally reach the car. What an enjoyable afternoon we had thanks to my husband cheering me on the whole way.
