Paradise Lost

April 23rd, 2010

It was a sad day the morning we woke up and had to check out of our beautiful honeymoon resort. In retrospect we both wish that we had stayed at least another week. We were really just beginning to thoroughly enjoy the place when our time ran out.
PhotobucketSince our check out time was in the morning and our ferry ride back to Mindanao began at sunset we decided to have our driver show us some of the sights in Cebu in the meantime. Our first stop was a small store that had an excellent selection of dried fish. My aunt had asked me to pick up some dried fish and squid for her while we were there in Cebu because she said that was the best place in the Philippines to get it. After my husband tried some of that squid he wished we had bought a couple of pounds of it for us.
PhotobucketOn the way back to Cebu our driver told us of a beautiful Chinese temple over looking the city and we decided that would be our next stop. Then, quite by accident, on the way there we ran across a decorative kite flying competition and decided to stop there for a while. The kites were beautiful and amazing and the wind was just perfect for the occasion. We took many pictures and then proceeded on to the temple. We had a very enjoyable tour and arrived at the port just in time to catch our ferry back to my home island.

Poor Film Conversion

April 22nd, 2010

Your wedding is one of the most memorable occasions of your life. When I got married I wanted to document everything that was happening on my big day. I knew a guy who was a wedding coordinator and when he found out I was getting married, he volunteered to do the coordinating for free because he said he was my friend. He came up with a couple of guys that he used as photographers and set me up with them to do the filming. I had already done most of the planning for the wedding myself, but when the coordinator got involved he started telling me that I needed to change everything around. He moved the location and tried to tell me I needed a different wedding dress. I was getting stressed out and the money my fiance had sent to pay for the wedding was quickly running out. I felt like he wanted me to have the wedding done the way he wanted it instead of the way I wanted it.

As the wedding preparations continued, my stress levels also increased and finally my fiance had to get him on the phone and lay down the law. After that things began to go more smoothly. In the end the wedding went very well. Everything seemed perfect until I played back the recording of the wedding for the first time. They had done a very poor job of converting the Film to DVD. It was dark and everyone’s faces were almost unrecognizable. Fortunately there was also a VHS tape made of the proceedings that turned out pretty well so all was not lost.

Michael Kors Shoes

April 18th, 2010

PhotobucketI was browsing through Michael Kors shoes online and found some that I like. The one that I like best is the gold leather scorpion gladiator sandal, a nice footwear for the hot summer season. I have been looking for something like this at the nearby store but can’t find any in my size. I only have a shoe sizeĀ of five.

Paradise with a Big Parking Lot

April 14th, 2010

While we were there we even took an afternoon trip to a nearby shopping mall :-) . There he bought me a nice watch and a comfortable pair of sandals for himself. We had lunch at the food court at the mall and my husband was really impressed with a very tasty squid dish that he got there from a very ordinary looking booth. It was a bit of a culture shock to go so quickly back and forth from our tropical resort paradise to an urban mall with only a short taxi ride in between.

Back at the resort there were all sorts of water sports available. They had tour boats, kayaks, pedal boats, jet-skies, tubing and snorkeling. Our greatest regret was that we were not able to take advantage of any of the water sports because we did not want to take the risk of having my hubby’s infection return. He has promised me that we will take advantage of them all when we celebrate our second honeymoon. Nevertheless, it was a wonderful place and a wonderful time and it all passed by too quickly.

I Need Prescription Sunglasses

April 13th, 2010

PhotobucketThe summer season is just around the corner. I went shopping for sunglasses at the nearby store but my hubby told me to go buy them at Zenni Optical instead. I was kind of, “oh yeah”. I did not expect that he would still remember Zenni. I have been blogging about Zenni Optical’s eyeglasses and maybe he remembered that starting at $8 I can get prescription eyeglasses. What I need though is prescription sunglasses. I haven’t checked out Zenni for sunglasses yet but I am hoping that I can get them from there. I lost my prescription sunglasses that I bought a few years ago but I haven’t bought new ones yet because they are expensive. I am hoping that I can get prescription sunglasses at Zenni for much less.

I have prescription eyeglasses but, for the past few months, I have not been using them. I only use my eyeglasses when I need them, especially when I am behind the wheel. I would like to give Zenni Optical a try for my prescription sunglasses because I don’t want to spend another $100 for prescription sunglasses. I learned a lesson when I lost my last pair. I need to keep better track of my sunglasses.

Amazon Books

April 12th, 2010

My hubby usually buys his books at Amazon books when he finds an interesting or important book. Even though he already has many different kinds of books at home, he will often buy extras to share and to give away to friends as gifts. He doesn’t usually read many books anymore because he finds more interesting and up to date information online. The ones that he usually buys anymore are just the important ones that he wants to add to his collection.

Paradise Continued

Our honeymoon paradise resort was quite a unique place. From the road outside it looked like a fortress with a large wooden stockade fence and gate complete with shotgun toting guard. Once inside though, the ambiance changed quickly and completely to that of the most luxurious tropical paradise. We had missed the enjoyment of taking in the not so subtle beauty when we first got there because of the worry over my husband’s condition. Now that he was on the mend we began to enjoy the surroundings immensely.

PhotobucketOn the far side of the breakfast pavilion was a large tank where they kept and fed live sharks during the afternoon. You could actually walk out over the shark tank on a small bridge and help feed them if you were brave enough. There were vendors along the ocean side selling all sorts of trinkets and keepsakes. My hubby bought a whole collection of beautiful exotic sea shells for next to nothing. Some he left there in the Philippines with my family and some he took back to the US with him. He says that his all time favorite picture of me is the one shown above on the white sand beach with the shells in front of me and the gentle wind blowing my hair.
